Starkey

Founded in 1967 by Bill Austin, it was initially known as Professional Hearing Aid Service, an all-make hearing instrument repair service in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. From there Bill Austin purchased Starkey Laboratories, a small earmold company, from Harold Starkey, in 1971. Austin merged Professional and Starkey, retaining the Starkey name. Today, Starkey Laboratories’ world headquarters is located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Starkey has a complete range of hearing aids, in various levels of technology, for all degrees of hearing loss.

Premium Products

Starkey’s Wi Series come in a variety of fitting options, including this receiver-in-the-canal BTE style aid.

These devices have 16 channels and 16 handles for fine tuning the hearing aids’ sound. They offer ear-to-ear processing (Binaural Spatial Mapping) for adjustment of dynamic directionality, wind noise management, and machine noise management. Their Premium Voice IQ feature utilizes the 16 channels for reduction of up to 20 dB of noise in the pauses of speech. They offer Spectral IQ, a frequency lowering technology engineered for patients with high frequency hearing loss. Most premium products are compatible with Starkey’s SurfLink Wireless accessories.

Advanced Products

Starkey’s X Series mini Receiver-in the-Canal option

These devices have 12 channels and 12 handles for fine tuning sound. They offer ear-to-ear processing (Binaural Spatial Mapping) for adjustment of dynamic directionality. Their Advanced Voice IQ feature utilizes the 12 channels for reduction of up to 8 dB of noise in the pauses of speech. They offer Spectral IQ, a frequency lowering technology engineered for patients with high frequency hearing loss. Most advanced products are also compatible with Starkey’s SurfLink Wireless accessories.

Midlevel Products

Starkey’s X Series hearing aids offer a wide range of styles to accommodate almost any hearing loss.

These devices have 8 channels and 8 handles for fine tuning the hearing aids’ sound. They offer synchronized user adjustments for volume and manual programs. The Voice IQ feature utilizes the 8 channels for reduction of noise in the pauses of speech, for more successful performance in noise. They offer Spectral IQ, a frequency lowering technology engineered for patients with high frequency hearing loss. Most midlevel products are also compatible with Starkey’s SurfLink Wireless accessories.

Basic Products

These devices have 4-6 channels and 4-6 handles for fine tuning the hearing aids’ sound. Products offer feedback cancellation and noise reduction systems. Most basic products are compatible with Starkey’s SurfLink Wireless accessories.
